Langkawi Cable car is just 5 minutes away from our hotel. It's located at the Oriental Village.
There are a number of souvenir shops selling slippers and local souvenirs. That was also a man-made lake with chalets-like shops.
We read that the queue for the cable car during peak periods could be more than one hour. We were lucky that there was not much of a queue when we reach the place before noon on a weekday. Look at the tensabarrier and we know what type of crowd is expected during the weekends.
The cable car is known as the SkyCab. This ride is probably one of the steepest cable car ride that I've taken. It's 650m above sea levels between the base station and middle station.
At both the middle and top stations, there are viewing platforms which guests can enjoy scenic views of the Langkawi Island and the Andaman Sea. The SkyBridge, a 125m suspension bridge is located at the top station. This is definitely not for the faint-hearted Too bad, the SkyBridge is closed during our visit. It has been close for quite sometime. I wonder if there are some plans to ensure the re-open it again after safety checks are in place.
This is truly one of the cable car experience that offers the most scenic views. It's a must-go attraction in Langkawi. If I do ever visit Langkwai again, I won't hesitate to re-visit the place again. Hopefully this time the SkyBridge is operating, and I master the courage to step onto it.
